Nintendo's Indie World packed 23 games into 15 minutes

The October showcase dated Witchbrook for January 28 and put Sword of the Sea on Switch 2 tomorrow, while several demos went live the same day. Two published lists differ on some platforms.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Nintendo's October 2026 Indie World ran 15 minutes and showed 23 games for Switch and Switch 2, with Nintendo Life's numbered list and VGC's announcement list agreeing on the count.
  • Witchbrook arrives January 28, Sword of the Sea reaches Switch 2 on October 29, Spirit Crossing lands November 16, and Raccoin's Chaos Max Edition follows on November 10.
  • Demos for Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, Winds of Viridia and Raccoin were listed as available on the day. The two lists differ on some platforms and on Petal Runner's March date.

Fifteen minutes, twenty-three games

Nintendo's latest Indie World presentation ran for about 15 minutes and covered 23 games for Switch and Switch 2, according to VGC, which lists every title in announcement order. Nintendo Life's guide numbers the announcements from one to 23, so the count is consistent across both reports. The showcase aired on October 28, 2026, and both reports describe the lineup as covering Switch and Switch 2.

The shape of the show is unusual for that length: most slots were a title, a date or window, and a platform line. That density is the story for anyone who did not watch live. The list includes full release dates for a handful of games, season-and-year windows for most, and one game available the same day. Neither outlet published a full transcript, so the 23-title list is the most complete public record of what was shown.

What is out now, and what has a demo

Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services was listed as available today on Switch in the sizzle reel, and VGC's list records it as out now for the original Switch. Sword of the Sea, the surfing adventure from the artist behind Journey and ABZÛ, is dated October 29 for Switch 2, which makes it the nearest full release on the list, one day after the showcase.

The demos are the part worth acting on. VGC says a demo for Winds of Viridia was due later on the showcase day, and lists same-day demos for Haunted Paws, Petal Runner and Raccoin. Demos are usually time-limited or tied to the store listing, and neither report gives an end date, so the practical check is the eShop page rather than the presentation. Neither list says how long each demo stays up.

The 2026 dates

Two Switch 2 titles share November 10 in VGC's list: Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition, which adds eight characters with their own gameplay modifiers, and Tanuki: Pon's Summer. Nintendo Life dates Tanuki to November 10, 2026 as well, but lists it for Switch and Switch 2 rather than Switch 2 alone. Spirit Crossing, a collaborative life-sim MMO that VGC calls a console exclusive, is dated November 16 by both outlets.

That is the whole of 2026 beyond Sword of the Sea. Everything else on the list is 2027 or later, which is why the showcase reads as a Switch 2 roadmap more than a holiday lineup. Neither report gives prices, file sizes or whether any of these are launch-window promotions. The thin 2026 slate also means the holiday season rests on Sword of the Sea and the two November 10 titles rather than a broad schedule.

The dated 2027 releases

Witchbrook is the headline date: January 28, 2027, for Switch and Switch 2, with Nintendo Life describing it as a life sim for up to four players set in the seaside town of Mossport. Slime Rancher 2 follows in January 2027 for Switch 2 per both lists, and Everything Is Crab is dated January 26, 2027 by Nintendo Life, which lists it for both consoles.

The spring cluster is denser. Super Battle Golf is March 25, 2027 on Switch 2, My Arms Are Longer Now is March 11, 2027 on both consoles, and Dumpster Gang is March 2027 on Switch 2. Petal Runner is where the lists part: VGC prints March 8, while Nintendo Life dates it March 28, 2027 for Switch 2. Haunted Paws is May 2027 on both consoles, and Threads of Time is Summer 2027, with VGC listing both consoles and Nintendo Life listing Switch 2. Both lists agree on Witchbrook and Super Battle Golf, the two dates most likely to be quoted.

The games with only a window

Several announcements stopped at a year or a season. Winds of Viridia is early 2027 on Switch 2, with a soundtrack from Kevin Penkin and Christopher Larkin according to VGC's description, and a free demo that was due the same day. City of None, a retro-style platformer with a four-colour palette from one of the co-creators of Celeste, is 2027 on both consoles in Nintendo Life's list.

Tenjutsu, the combat roguelike from the designer of Dead Cells, is 2027 on Switch 2. R.E.P.O. is 2027 on Switch 2, Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino is Spring 2027 on both consoles, Floor Plan: Slap Out of It is Spring 2027, Lost and Found Co is 2027, and HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is 2027 on Switch 2. A window is not a date, and none of these carries a preorder detail in either report. A 2027 window also leaves open whether any of these slip into 2028, which the showcase did not address.

What to check before planning around the list

The two lists agree on the 23 titles and on the big dates, but they disagree in small, practical ways: Tanuki's platform line, Petal Runner's March date, and Threads of Time's console line. None of those differences is a scandal; they are the usual result of transcribing a fast showcase. The store listing is the authority, and the site's other Nintendo files, including the Mario Kart World October update, the Star Fox multiplayer update and the Switch Sports Resort online requirements, cover the platform's other recent changes.

Two things are not in either report: prices and whether any of the demos or releases are limited to a region. If a title matters to you, the reliable next step is the eShop page for that game, where the date, platform and demo availability are printed together. Treat the presentation as a schedule announcement, not as a guarantee that every date will hold.
