THE SHORT VERSION

  • The October Game Catalog is labeled for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium; Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, and Mycopunk are among its October 20 additions.
  • Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition are listed under Premium Classics, and two new Game Trials are reserved for Premium.
  • Some catalog titles have earlier or later regional dates, and Sony warns that catalog and streaming availability can differ by region.

This announcement is the Game Catalog, not the monthly games list

Sony’s October 14 announcement covers the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium, with a separate section for Premium Classics. The main catalog includes seven games across PS5 and PS4. Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition appear in the Premium Classics section, while two new trials are also marked for Premium. Keeping those labels separate matters: a title in the Extra/Premium Game Catalog is not the same offer as a monthly Essential game.

Sony says the full lineup is available from October 20 unless a title has another date. The Midnight Walk is already listed for October 14 in the US and UK, and October 15 in Japan. Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition, and Monster Energy Supercross 25 are listed for October 27 in the US, UK, and Japan. If you are searching on a date that does not match October 20, the title may have its own regional schedule.

The catalog mixes new releases with a returning PS4/PS5 game

Mafia: The Old Country is listed for PS5, with a story set in early twentieth-century Sicily. Horizon Forbidden West is listed for PS5 and PS4; Sony marks it as a PlayStation Plus re-release. Mycopunk is a PS5 co-op looter shooter that Sony says joins the catalog day one on October 20. Those three headlines cover different reasons to check the lineup: a new crime story, a returning first-party adventure, and a launch-day co-op release.

The other four catalog entries offer different kinds of play. The Midnight Walk uses a handmade clay world, a lantern companion and five connected tales. Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 follows the toy-factory story with puzzles and movement through hazardous spaces. Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition is a role-playing story about two characters from different worlds trying to change their future. Monster Energy Supercross 25 focuses on motorcycle racing, career progression and riding aids. Those descriptions come from Sony’s lineup post; they help narrow a genre choice without repeating the date table above.

MeriStation’s independent October roundup lists the same seven Extra/Premium catalog entries and separates the two Premium Classics. It is useful as a quick cross-check of the titles, while Sony’s own page is the more detailed source for the regional dates, PS4/PS5 versions, and additional member offers.

Premium gets two classics and two new trials

Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition are listed under PlayStation Plus Premium. Both are shown for PS5 and PS4. The classic section is separate from the seven-game Extra/Premium catalog list, so a Premium member should look at both headings when checking the month’s additions.

The two choices also suit different kinds of play. Sony describes Dino Crisis 2 as a survival action game with Regina, Dylan, and dinosaur encounters. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is a park-management game with career scenarios and a sandbox mode. These titles are Premium Classics; the main catalog’s Extra/Premium heading does not extend that classics section to every tier.

Sony also lists Game Trials for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Mortal Shell II, available October 20 for Premium members. The announcement does not give a trial length, so the article does not assume a number of hours. If you plan to use a trial before buying, open the current PlayStation Store listing for its individual time limit and region.

Several other PlayStation Plus offers are time-limited

The October post also includes in-game packs and add-on offers, which are not new Game Catalog titles. A World War Z Halloween skin pack is listed for October 20. For Back 4 Blood, which Sony says is available in Extra, the Tunnels of Terror first expansion can be downloaded at no extra cost from October 21 through November 4; the second and third DLC packs and Annual Pass receive a stated 95% discount.

A Dead by Daylight community challenge runs from October 20 to October 26. The target is 10 million matches. Sony says the PlayStation Plus exclusive pack unlocks if the challenge succeeds, so the announcement should not be read as confirmation that the pack is already available. Until Dawn also has a limited Sony Pictures Core movie discount beginning October 28 and ending November 3. That is a movie offer, not part of the game catalog.

Use the PS4 and PS5 labels to narrow the list

PS4 owners have several entries in this month’s list: Horizon Forbidden West, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition, Dino Crisis 2, and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition. The first three sit in the Extra/Premium Game Catalog; the last two are in Premium Classics. Those labels answer two different questions at once: whether the console can run the title and whether the membership tier includes its catalog category.

Sony lists Mafia: The Old Country, Mycopunk, The Midnight Walk and Monster Energy Supercross 25 for PS5, without a PS4 version in their rows. The Midnight Walk is fully playable on a regular PS5 screen as well as in VR with PS VR2. Its VR support therefore describes another way to play, rather than a requirement to own a headset for every session.

Check the local catalog before planning a download

Sony warns that Game Catalog and Premium/Deluxe lineups may differ by region and directs members to the PlayStation Store on release day. It also says the ability to stream digital PS5 games from a library can vary over time, by region, and by country. Those caveats matter for the staggered dates and the catalog’s mixed PS4/PS5 labels. A title listed for a console may still have different download or streaming availability where you live.

For a quick decision, first check whether a game is under Extra/Premium Game Catalog, Premium Classics, or Premium Game Trials. Then check the date and platform on its row. If you are using a limited-time add-on, read its offer window separately. This avoids treating all nine game entries and the side offers as if they shared one start date or membership level.

If you are in the console menu and seeing a different list, Sony’s access guide gives the Monthly Games route separately: on PS5, open PlayStation Plus from Games home, then Benefits and Monthly Games; on PS4, open PlayStation Plus from the function screen and scroll to Monthly Games. Those are monthly-game menus, so they are not a substitute for checking the Game Catalog category used by this announcement. The guide separately confirms Extra access to Game Catalog and Premium access to both Game Catalog and Classics Catalog.
